Speaker 1:

so so, all right, ladies and gentlemen, we are back. We are back. We are back. Tnt podcast DJ Turn Up, dj Tanaka. Sorry for the greatest hit. Not sorry, but like we had the greatest hits episode because we were just all busy and still recovering from our big event. Nice and slow, um, we'll get into details of that later, but um, yeah, we're back, ladies and gentlemen. Uh, yeah, we're back. Tanaka, how? Are you? Feeling sir you're grinning what's what's happening?

Speaker 3:

um so, man, we just been busy out. So you heard me just been busy. Um, I don't know, we just been working. I don't know what else to say other than that, yeah, it's been kind of a lot it has, bro.

Speaker 1:

It's definitely been a lot, um, but you know, it's maintainable for me. I, I can't, I can't speak for everybody, but yeah, it's been maintainable for me.

Speaker 3:

Um, yeah, man, just taking it one day at a time yeah, I was supposed to go to up to new york but my plans have felt through and so I was kind of just like just kind of here I was just in the wind, bro. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1:

I didn't, I didn't plan for this, so then I was like well, now there's all these plays and everybody like, knock you're gonna be here, knock you're gonna be there you know it's funny, we're gonna actually talk about one of those plays because, um, yeah, we're gonna talk about those play when we get, when we get to that, um, but I mean, you know, other than that?

Speaker 3:

well, yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I've been a little, it's been a lot of work, a lot of work definitely been a lot of work, definitely been a lot of work.

Speaker 1:

um, yeah, man, yeah, it's been a lot of work, I mean I don't know about you, turnip.

Speaker 3:

Have you been enjoying it? I feel like I've been busy, but I'm not mad at it per se, and that's what I was saying.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not mad at it. The truth be told our situation could be a lot worse, Not saying that anything about this is bad right, I mean people have had shittier situations for sure. So for sure, you know um yeah, I'm not one to complain about what we have going on right now at all yeah, so I mean, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3:

We here gearing up for some fun endeavors later on in the month. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1:

That's basically it. Yeah, that's basically it. So I just wanted to get this out the way. I wanted to send my condolences out to the friends and family of uh rapper enchanting about a time of recording this. Uh, she's passed away. Apparently she was on life support, for I don't know how true this is, but they said a drug overdose, but uh, that's. It hasn't been like, uh hasn't been. Uh said by a lot of different people, so I'm assuming that's not official. Just wanted to send my condolences out to the friends and family of Enchanting Absolutely.

Speaker 3:

I actually have a side question for you, serna. This just sparked this. I didn't know what she passed or what, the cause and all that, but you said drug overdose that's what I seen, but I only said it on one news platform that said that.

Speaker 3:

But just in general, you know I know we've all spoken on how you know drugs and alcohol and weed and all these that that's real prevalent. You know in the hood that while, yeah, they, they do enjoy it or whatever, it's really you know a uh coping mechanism from all the, all the you know traumas that they have to experience. You know and witness right growing up in that environment. I was gonna ask you do you think that tattoos Are also a coping mechanism?

Speaker 1:

Um A coping Mechanism. I don't think. It's necessarily a coping mechanism. I See people like Do people do that? Like, do people like when they get stressed, they're like, oh, let me go get a tattoo. Is that a thing? I mean because if that's a thing, then yeah, I guess it would be, but I didn't.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I didn't really think about it, but when I sat back and really thought about it and thought about just how many folks like you know what I'm saying, like be in jail or in the hood and all that really be tatted up for real and I'm just like dang, like that could also be somewhat of a coping mechanism. I feel like you know, and, um, I did speak to an individual who did say that you heard me, so that is just a coping mechanism that it was.

Speaker 3:

You know, I'm saying that it was a coping and I was like dang that's crazy, because I was. That was just something like one day I was kind of sitting back just like thinking about, like right.

Speaker 3:

Nobody had to tell you that, yeah, like yeah, I was just like dang, like you know, I see, this this is a common thing like, maybe that's like a, you feel me like almost like they just put that pain on them. You know, I'm saying that they've been going through whatever, whatever, and I didn't Because it's like, it's crazy, because a lot of stuff folks will do and they won't even realize like the deeper meaning to it. You know what I'm saying, right? And then like so, yeah, so I just like dang, like that's kind of crazy. Like, don't get me wrong, of course there's folk out there that just like artwork, you know, on their body and stuff, like that, right, but um, yeah, it was just kind of wild to think about, you know, just kind of wild to think about for real. And um, anyway, I just I just interested to see what your perspective on that that was, you know I mean it's, it's interesting.

Speaker 1:

Um, I would have never thought about it in that perspective because I mean, as you see, I don't have any fucking tattoos. But, it being a coping mechanism, I just thought it honestly. I thought it was more of an addiction than a coping, like more of just oh, I just oh, this part of my arm is naked, I need to cover it up, right. That type of deal and.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I guess in some senses it could be that, but yeah, I never thought. It's like oh man, I had a bad day at work, let's go get a tattoo.

Speaker 3:

Yeah but I mean I guess, I guess it could be.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, man, I didn't want to dwell too much on the bad. Like I said, my condolences to Enchanting and our family and friends and all that.

Speaker 3:

That joint is wild, though we really think about when Gucci came out with that new 1017.

Speaker 1:

I kind of didn't want to make that the question of the day because I don't want to shit on Gucci.

Speaker 3:

I'm just saying it's wild though, because, like we, we was there. You feel me for the rollout, that whole.

Speaker 1:

You know rollout is nuts, yeah, and just to see where it's at, yeah, folks are saying that like he's low key and not okay, and because I know let me let me explain myself before folks take this and run with it. Yeah, but folks are saying that, like gucci is kind of the the new diddy, oh dang, but not, not in the sense the nuisance yeah, not the nuisance, more of like how folks had the bad boy curse right, right, like it was like they're having a 10, 17 curse.

Speaker 1:

And true be told, there's some legs to that. Yeah, like folks are.

Speaker 3:

I mean, there's only two people that died, but I mean well, actually three if we're counting slim duncan but um, and everybody else is in jail right um right or just not relevant or they just, they just drop off and do nothing but uh yeah, it's, yeah it's.

Speaker 1:

It's very interesting, especially and it'll set. And it's really sad because I remember what I'm well today at gold rush. I don't Rush, I played the 10-17 loaded. I'm looking at it, I'm like God damn.

Speaker 3:

Are any of these folks still on the label? None, I don't think so.

Speaker 1:

And if they are, they're in jail or prison. Is Fugiano and Poo Shiesty still signed to them?

Speaker 3:

I don't even know. Yeah, I don't even know. Man, that's crazy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but yeah, man, my condolences to Enchanting. Yeah, definitely, truth be told, I didn't even know that she wasn't signed to them anymore. I just thought she just wasn't making music like she was, or some shit. I don't know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But in a more positive note. I know folks don't like to talk about death, but I mean, I guess in one sense she's with scar because she was real hurt about him losing him yeah, apparently they was real close, like you know. I'm saying just like I didn't know that yeah well until he passed away and then, like I just seen, like a flooded like him on the page. Um, but yeah, but yeah, man um in a better place, um no, yeah, my condolences to her and her family for real.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, um, in other news, I did want to run through some things that like we're not things, but some, some places and events we've done since the last episode, which was the denzel curry episode. Um, and was crazy, it's crazy. And you said this. I remember you said this a couple episodes ago. Well, we always say this couple episodes when we do these updates. It's like, damn, I feel like that was. It's so much happened that it feels like it was so long ago. The fucking Cascade Headphone Party, exactly, you remember that party. You remember that party. Yeah, that was shout out to DJ Drip. He was handing out the party. I mean, he was handing out the parties. He was handing out the headphones, yep.

Speaker 3:

Exactly, boy, that joint Right See, and that's a testament to how busy we've been. Cause, boy that joint feels like.

Speaker 1:

Right, but um, yeah, shout out to Drip. He's um Really locked in With the headphone folks, and boy, we seen it. He done came a long way.

Speaker 4:

Been a long journey, man Long journey with that For real. But um.

Speaker 1:

Shout out to Ham, shout out to Solo Um.

Speaker 3:

Yo.

Speaker 1:

You know, we rock the crowd. Cool little vibe and shout out to Shot by Tanaka, because, I'm not going to lie, he's a testament of loyal to his work. Because, truth be told, the situation he went through at Cascade, had that happened to me, I just would have had to wrap it up and go home. But, boy, boy, talk about loyal to the soil, boy, your thoughts well, they say the devil shy out.

Speaker 3:

But nah, man, yeah, don't fall. You know them, boys, they got me. You know I'm saying they got my head. You know they done bust Bust in my back Passenger window. They were looking for that Glock. You know what I'm saying, cause he had a shiesty mask on. But you know there's nowhere, nowhere to be found. You know Only napkins and my Willy Wonka cane, you know so, which they didn't even take they didn't even say it, you know what I'm saying so I thought he had blickies because he had the blicky mask on.

Speaker 1:

So you know.

Speaker 3:

So I had them black diamonds for sale. You feel me, if anybody want to cop them black diamonds, you know I had that right they all gone now.

Speaker 1:

He sold out.

Speaker 3:

All gone now, yeah, he sold out now but I don't know, in that situation, bro, I just like, look man, like what can I? Who can I be mad? Like? Can I be mad at security? Yeah, I guess I could, because then, fuck, jay watched that joint and you know didn't chase nobody down. But it's like, at the end of the day, you know they just scary like I can't. You know it's out of my control, you know they didn't get no type of license plate.

Speaker 1:

Let's just put it on the just put in the big words dj tanaka says cascade security is pussy. I'm just joking. Relax, everybody, put your pink 40s down.

Speaker 3:

I was joking but um, but say, you know, um, I don't know. I just feel like there's not much I could do. There's no video. I don't think they got cameras and all that they definitely don't you know.

Speaker 3:

so it's like you know, I just had to charge into the game man. You know this is what I signed up for. You know, owning a car, you dig and a shysty mask these things are liable to happen, you hear me Especially you dig and a shysty mask. These things are liable to happen, especially if you walk out your car with a shysty mask.

Speaker 3:

So you know, yeah, it means to me, and you know I just had to learn about getting a replacement window. You know that process and learn how that goes. So that was um interesting to learn about but shout out to other streets.

Speaker 1:

Anr um, that we got. You got that fixed pretty quickly. I did I did.

Speaker 3:

I didn't end up using her plug, but you know, oh, you didn't so wait.

Speaker 1:

Where'd you end up going?

Speaker 3:

um, I think, another source that gave me well, I don't even know Really like a whole bunch of folks that looked up some stuff and sent to me, and when I realized that there was closer plugs, that was on my side of town, I just went with that, right, I didn't realize that um bro didn't even have he's a mobile person, he don't even have like a headquarters tight joint. Oh, he just pulled up on you, yeah, pulled up, and knocked it out in like 30 minutes, bruh, like, yeah, right though, you hear me, so I was like and so does he do that like just everywhere in Atlanta, like he'll just pull up on you.

Speaker 3:

I feel like I think he stays. I want to say I don't know it's for a fact, but I feel like he's staying, marietta, you know? I'm saying then, just whoever calls him, he kind of just bases it off of like how far he has to go and be like okay, I probably could get to you, like, if you want to eat, so I could probably get to you like 4 pm or something.

Speaker 3:

You know what I mean, that type of thing, just kind of like laying out his schedule, all the people he got to knock out, you know, replace the windows and all that so. But he seen I was, I was probably just up the street from him, so he was like, oh yeah, I could be there in, like, you know, good, like 40 minutes or something, and showing up, bro, he pulled up and uh, you know, I I didn't know how long this process was gonna take. You did. Um, it was definitely, uh, you know, not during the times that I'm usually awake. This was probably like 10 am 11 am or something that time 10 am.

Speaker 3:

You know that that's like the heart of when I be knocked out. You heard me. So you know, boy, didn't I learn that the hard way? And so, yeah, so you know, um, so yeah, so basically, um, you know, I had to. Yeah, man, I didn't expect it to be that quick. He was, he knocked it out. You know what I'm saying. So, so, yeah, man, you know.

Speaker 1:

Do you want to shout him out? Do you remember his name, or do you remember his company, or anything?

Speaker 3:

Dang, I don't, don't, I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, well shout out to whoever fixed to knock us.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I appreciate it bro, you know, appreciate, you appreciate it but um, yeah, uh, what else happened?

Speaker 1:

oh, I have an 18 year old little brother now.

Speaker 3:

That's always interesting oh, that's right, dang, I forgot about the, the, his graduation party man, you know all right that was a birthday party, my fault yeah was it also a graduation, though, too.

Speaker 1:

No no, he graduated as well.

Speaker 3:

Okay, that was more I just felt like it was like a duel, so so, even if it wasn't, I mean there was kids from his. Like I'm saying, even if he wasn't graduating so like, and it was just his birthday, like you, y'all usually do that I mean not that I know of true be told, but like uh or was it because it was like a milestone birthday, like 18 birthday, like maybe I feel like that was just because, yeah, because I don't remember seeing anything about shadow class 2024 or anything like that.

Speaker 1:

It was just 18 everywhere.

Speaker 3:

So okay, see, I just I don't know. You know what it is. It's probably because it's like it's kind of it's in the it's an area, so I was just like it's all in the same yeah, makes sense.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, shout out to shout jayden turning 18. He's uh I forgot what school he said he's going to, but he uh getting into barber and all that good shit. And Shout out DJ Drip For Starting off the party.

Speaker 3:

For sure, she loves Jaden. Right, that's his Instagram. Yeah, she loves Jaden. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1:

She loves Jaden With no pictures on his Instagram. That's what the kids do nowadays.

Speaker 3:

You know Got it. You know no face, no case.

Speaker 1:

No face, no case. Everybody's running from the cops.

Speaker 3:

He had that joint load. There was a good amount of people in there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he had it cool. Yeah, he definitely did a lot better with friends than I did in high school for sure.

Speaker 3:

He's a popular kid.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, no, he's a popular one for sure.

Speaker 3:

And he always had that chain. I was like, dang, that's a nice looking chain that he had on. Yeah, it's him and his.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's his, his grandma, who passed away. Yeah, oh, it's grandma on his side. Yeah, I think he has like two of them. Yeah, yeah, I feel that. Well, yeah, he's a cool cat, cool cat.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I gotta One of these days I'm gonna you know See about these barber skills.

Speaker 1:

That he got. He got the Instagram page. So you know he got the work for you to see. So, speaking of the work to see, I wanted to give a big shout out to Omar For the work he put in To Straight Outta G Co Damn that's another one that seemed like a minute ago. Yeah, right, no, it does. It does feel like a minute ago. Yeah, it was definitely a cool vibe. It was definitely a lot of people in there, for sure. Gotta bring back Sparkles. Oh yes, bring Sparkles back to life.

Speaker 3:

Sparkles, my baby. Sparkles.

Speaker 1:

Sparkles. You gotta bring Sparky Ellis back to life. But um shout out to. Omar. He put in some work and the people came and it was cool and, honestly and truthfully, if I were to have a nitpick on the whole night, if I were to have any nitpick, it would be that, like I mean, some of the kids didn't really do 2000s, they kind of did 90s, it was like kind of like some of the, some of the tires, like the backwards jerseys and like, oh yeah, like the girls were wearing like the the baggy, the baggy jeans with the, with the it was.

Speaker 1:

It was like a leo, it was like a leo vibes and I mean, lord knows a leo. A leo was wearing that in the 90s, like 2000s. A leo was wearing like more women's stuff, like but, um, but I mean, other than that I'm, I'm just appreciative that folks actually participated well, so what?

Speaker 3:

how, if you were to estimate how many folks you know dressed up? You know see, I wasn't able to make if it was 300 people in there, I'd probably say 50, 60 maybe 70, maybe maybe like 40 I don't know, somewhere around that number. That's what's up yeah something around that and jones definitely, uh, definitely packed out, man right. I wish I could have made it and I had what were you doing?

Speaker 3:

again, I had dj to glide yeah, golden glide, shout out, golden glide shout out to golden glide why I did that team night and I forgot to fight in that 10 15 at the end of the session early.

Speaker 1:

you know what? What I'm saying? It was like ooh, and he's like shout out to Golden Glock. It's like the same paycheck.

Speaker 3:

That joint was crazy, though. Man Like real talk. I'm over there DJing, I'm looking for the next song and out the corner of my eye I just see a whole bunch of commotion. I look up, I see Vaughn just like he just like cut the music, and then all the kids that's around are just like yeah, yeah, let's go yeah.

Speaker 1:

We're not going to take it.

Speaker 3:

So I cut the music off. It was a whole bunch of commotion, man, they trying to get everybody settled down. Vaughn had to hop the wall to. You know what I'm saying? Get a hold, break them folk up. So we all discuss it and we and DJ Boo are in trouble with Vaughn. And I'm like that ain't Vaughn, I ain't know you. Security too, bro. He's like bro twin, this is crazy bro. I'm done with the glide bro. This is crazy bro. And as soon as he's telling me this, all I hear in the background is I'm PDK and another fight breaks out you know what I'm saying, like these two guys dudes getting into it.

Speaker 3:

So Vaughn had to go around there and like hold Holmes back and like I was like man, shout out to Vaughn shout out to Vaughn shout out to Vaughn bro for being double duty security yeah. Dome being Golden. Goliath, but then at the same time, he's not you feel me heart and soul to Goliath man, that boy, dj Vaughn man, salute to him, shout out to him, then you got Mr Robert. Oh man, that's bringing back memories, and not good ones. So what are you?

Speaker 1:

talking about. I kind of figured what he's talking about. So next, on the what the fuck have Tanaka and Turner been doing list? You brought up a point about you not you having an event, it falling through and you just kind of just going with the wind. Yeah, man, and the wind blows you all the way to Canton, georgia. Let's talk about it. Oh dang I already forgot about that that's crazy.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, man, Southern Honor Wrestling right. Yes, Southern Honor Wrestling right.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

Southern Honor Wrestling man. This was quite the experience. It was a little intense. When I first went in there, you know, I didn't know if it was like. I didn't know if it was because I was Asian. I didn't know what it was. You know, I definitely knew I was in a certain area of georgia. Yeah, he's in the cotton eye joe area, but um, aside from all that, I mean I enjoyed myself. You know this was my first time.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I guess really going to like a wrestling joint for real, you know yeah, and, truth be told, like I'm not one to push my activities on anybody like if you say you're not into it.

Speaker 1:

I'm never gonna bring it up and you would never even know that I'm a fan, unless you come to my house. Like if you come to my house you're obviously gonna see it when you're walking around. But like, truth be told, if I know you don't fuck with it. Like I'm like what's the point of me bringing it up? I'm not gonna. God damn, I'm not. I'm not an advocate for wrestling, I'm not that big of a fan that I'm be like yo you need to be doing like I don't give a fuck about that.

Speaker 1:

However, if you're interested, I'll tell you all the tidbits about it and, yeah, we'll figure something out. You know, it just so happened that Tanaka wasn't doing nothing, breezy wasn't doing nothing and, lord knows, breezy ass. Breezy has been asking me about this spot for like two years, and I'm not joking two years. Oh, I didn't know that it's been about a year or two years, so he been like oh, where's my invite?

Speaker 3:

where's my invite? You don't never, tell me, invite me to this wrestling thing.

Speaker 1:

So you finally didn't have nothing to do. You don't never tell you invite me to this wrestling thing, exactly so you finally have nothing to do. You don't work for jamming djs no more crazy.

Speaker 3:

So it just so happened that this is like the first time I done asked about it, and then he right, and so we finally like right all the delinquent, it became a delinquent outing slip right.

Speaker 1:

So oh, we actually we actually need to run it back. We actually need to run back because we forgot about something else. But, um, yeah, uh, yeah. So it just so happened that you were off, he was off and I was like I ain't gonna lie, I was kind of geeked. I was like dang, breezy and tanaka gonna be here for this. This is great. I mean, I was kind of I ain't gonna lie, I was kind of hesitant for you because, like breezy condo knows wrestling and I know you're like completely oblivious, like this is like hieroglyphics like you're just deer in headlights just watching like what the fuck am I experiencing?

Speaker 1:

right, I'm saying like I just love and this is the, this is the funny part that he kind of, he kind of got the bait when, um, what was it? It was the part where the wrestlers, uh, were wearing the same thing and they were jumping in and out of the cask, and that's what got him hot bro, what y'all got going on bro what's up with that camera, bro?

Speaker 3:

you know what I'm saying. Look, look, you know. Okay, so this. So I went into this with zero expectations. I didn't know what to expect, you feel me. So I go in there and I kind of saw turn up and tonic like how they was interacting with the joint, like you got to play into it. You know what I'm saying just to have some fun, right, but then on top of that you know what I'm saying I had to call homes out buddy, fuck over here switching the cabs.

Speaker 4:

I said what y'all got going on bro. Hey ref, do your job, bro. What you doing? Bro? He's over here switching the cast. He on the wrong arm with the cast. Bro, Come on, bro, you we not finna, play no game with them, man. You know what I'm saying and the whole, you know do your job, do your job. You know what I'm saying, so you know I was having a good time With it, man, you did like For real, so you know.

Speaker 1:

Look, I was just happy that you were having a good time Cause like I said I just would, I just would hate To bring somebody into it, and they're just kinda like, like okay, this is Anything else. Let's wrap this up, you know what I've realized.

Speaker 3:

That, bro, we gotta enjoy, like you know what I'm saying. So, as, whatever the situation, we just got to make the best of it. You know what I'm saying and clearly, to enjoy this, you gotta play into it. Have a little fun you know, talk a little smack with the, with the wrestlers. You know all that man. So you know I ain't got no issue, bro. You know what I'm saying, that boy sunshine, sunshine.

Speaker 4:

Over there, ducked off in the corner, you shout out 100 j the corner you?

Speaker 1:

yeah, that's one of tonic's favorites um. It's funny um and it was this made me think. Uh, I think his name is nick hayland, so breezy is like all into it, like breezy is yelling right, he's having fun, having a good time this man so he was like why you got approved on your ass. He's like well, your old lady like it, bitch yeah, so that's and that's so for the people that are wrestling fans.

Speaker 1:

This is one perspective about the independent wrestling that I I just never thought of. I never thought that they would actually respond back yeah like, because there's so many folks like on, like you watch on tv, that's like, yeah, like, and like the wrestlers will ignore them the whole time, right? So for me to be like, yeah, yeah, yeah, and they come up and it's like what'd you say, wait a minute? What the fuck you just tell?

Speaker 1:

me right, right, I'm like oh, okay, you actually hear me. Okay, like it was, it was crazy. There was actually a situation where we didn't say anything and it was me, my homeboy justin, shout out justin, and justin had brought his older brother shout out jason, and we were just standing there and dude had like it's big dude dude. He came out of the ring and like was like yeah, what, what, what you like he's in his face like he's like right here, like what?

Speaker 1:

yeah, uh, like I'm like I'm just waiting for something to pop off. I'm like, oh, here we go. I think I got it in my phone, I don't know. I gotta show you that shit was funny. I was like oh, okay, this is happening. But yeah man, shout out to Gary Lamb, shout out to Southern Honor. Wrestling it's always a good time.

Speaker 3:

Trump, how did you I know you're a wrestling fan how did you discover Southern Honor Wrestling?

Speaker 1:

So right before COVID Happened, tonic had Told me, well, not right before COVID happened, it was probably like 2019. He had told me, well, not right before kovat happened, it's probably like 2019. He had told me about southern honor wrestling, but like I was just kind of like, eh, like it's independent wrestling, I don't really give shit about that, but, um, I forgot what made you know. So there was a wrestler that he said that I was a fan of. I wasn't really a fan of her, I just thought she had a fat ass and I thought she was fine as hell. But her name was Kiera Hogan and they was like, oh yeah, kiera Hogan was there. I was like, really, check this spot out and so I went there.

Speaker 1:

And so the first night they had like a steel cage match. And I'm like, whoa, they have a steel cage, because perception of independent wrestling is that you get like a whole bunch of one-on-one matches and the dudes are just I don't know, they're just whatever. And so for them to have all this extracurricular shit on there, I was like, okay, cool, I'm sold. And so I went there.

Speaker 1:

I went there one time this is the first time I went was right before covid happened or it was either like a few months before covid, and so, like I remember, um, I was supposed to go to the one right before COVID, but then, like I just was like I don't feel like going. So once I uh, once COVID happened and everything shut down and then stuff started opening back up. I don't know if you, I don't know if I ever had this conversation with you, uh, tanaka, but there was one time at sparkles where I had like a mental breakdown, like a really bad mental breakdown, to the point that like I couldn't talk, I was stuttering, like folks trying to give me water, like I held the water too far and I like it spurted everywhere like it was bad, like it was like really I don't know what the fuck was going on when was what year?

Speaker 3:

was this 2020, 2020?

Speaker 1:

2020. Um, I would probably have a date for you, but I don't even like. Facebook deactivated my shit, so I can't. I can't give you a date, but um, that's crazy so it was like really bad.

Speaker 1:

And I was like I thought I had covet, I thought it was, I thought that's what it was. I was hoping that's what it was come to find out I was negative. I was like damn. I still don't to this day I still don't know what that was. But I remember I was like, okay, maybe I'm just working too much. So there was that's when, um, I was like southern honor opened back up like they started doing more shows. I mean, they started bringing back their shows.

Speaker 1:

I was like you know what, once a month, I'm gonna just make that day about me, right, and I'm gonna just we're gonna call what once a month I'm gonna just make that day about me, right, and I'm gonna just what you're gonna call it southern honor day I'm gonna just take off every first friday, and yeah, that's gonna be my off day, I guess so that was the day that that was just for me, where I was, like when I'll tell y'all hey, I'm going to the wrestling show?

Speaker 1:

I'll be there right and so once I um once me and tonic got cool enough with the people, they found out that we were djs right, and at first it was just tonic. And then after that tonic couldn't do it and so like tonic was like hey, do you want to do it? And I'm like hell yeah, dj for wrestling. Hell fuck, let's do it. So once that happened, I did it and then, like both of us started doing it and then both of us started doing it at the same time and yeah, it's just kind of been Wrestling history type shit.

Speaker 3:

So so they show the replay of like these matches online.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, they actually so shout out to. Oh my fuck. Why am I forgetting the name? Why am I? Oh shout out to iw tv. That's where they like put all the shows that was actually funny. Like I said, when I watch iw tv I be looking for when they catch us right, so like I have like.

Speaker 1:

If you look at my little slideshow downstairs, I have a couple of those on there got you, so like I'll like watch it on the tv, then I'll like screen record it, or I'll like take the time code and I'll try to screen record and I'll just take that, put it on there just for because I know that, like the with the other wrestling, they be having the commentators right, like, just like, oh, and here goes, and that's where you can hear that, yeah, okay, yeah, so the two guys that I don't know if you've seen, but there was. There was a black guy with dreads and there's a white guy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah I didn't see them yeah they're the commentators. So, um, and okay, so I will tell you after this. I'll tell you one highlight of mine and we can move on to something else. Um, this was the time, this was one of the times that they told me, um, that Tonic told me so turn up, you're going to do this by yourself, and I was like okay, cool.

Speaker 1:

So one of the? Um, one of the people that puts together the show, um, shout out, dylan. He told me he was like hey, so we have this idea for a match and, um, what we're gonna do is we're gonna have you um, so okay. So I'll give you a little backstory. So there's this wrestler. He's no longer with us.

Speaker 1:

His name is New Jack and he was like uh, he was like a hardcore wrestler for my people that know wrestling um, and his thing was his gimmick was that, like he would, anytime he would wrestle. He would wrestle with his theme song playing throughout the whole match. Like the thing, the song is playing throughout the whole match. He's fucking slinging motherfuckers with like chairs and kendo sticks, guitars, whatever the fuck. And the song natural born killers by dr dre and ice cube is playing the whole time. So the get the. What they wanted to do was they wanted to have like a new jack vibe where a song is playing the whole time and he's like hey, so we have this idea that we want you to um, we want you to, uh, be at the um, be at your dj booth while the match is going on and pretend like you're playing the music. So what's gonna happen is?

Speaker 1:

the wrestlers are gonna come to you and be like uh, shout out to huck he was. He said, um, he's gonna be like dj, play the music. And like you, do this and press the music and party up. They're gonna play party up on the loudspeakers his name was huck yeah, huckabee, yeah, I yeah oh man, and there goes huck.

Speaker 4:

He's going to the dj to tell him to play his anthem and here he goes.

Speaker 1:

I wish I had up, I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna show you up, I'm gonna show you it when I uh, when we get a chance. But yeah, that was, that was probably a fun time. That was probably the most fun I ever had. That's hard.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's hard, but yeah, man, shout out Southern Honor. I can't wait for the next one. The next one is, I think they said, august or something like that.

Speaker 3:

They be using chairs, and all that for real. All that. Oh okay, so you wasn't playing around when you was like, hey, you want to share it yeah they be using it.

Speaker 1:

Hold on, let me see if I can Hold on. We're going to take a pause real quick. I just got to show Tanaka this how crazy it could get. I just want to show you how crazy it could get. Let me see if I can. Okay, I got some no-transcript, something like that, but he like wants to be like a wrestler or like a death math wrestler, and I'm like, bro, I I fuck with your vision, bro, just keep doing what you're doing wait who his name is nathan, who is nathan or who he's in that video?

Speaker 1:

yeah, he's. Oh, he's the guy that. Oh he, like that, was the one with the little fire.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's him yeah, oh, okay yeah, see turn on be knowing these folk real name and shit like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he calls himself the kill billy and yeah, yeah, sorry, but anyway, anyway. So, yeah, it gets crazy, yeah, it could get nuts.

Speaker 3:

Look, I was just surprised, man, I'm over there like dang. This joint ended 11-bet. You feel me? We had a whole nother end at 10-20. I was like oh Turner that's it, bro.

Speaker 4:

That's it right. I thought we was going to 11.

Speaker 1:

That's crazy, you got the tame joint.

Speaker 3:

You had a good time. I can only imagine yeah, man, you know what I'm saying. One of them.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that shit gets nuts. Before we turn this in to the Southern Honor podcast, we're going to move on to whatever the hell we have Alright, let's talk about it. Why sell trowels? The hell we have? All right, let's talk about it. Um, this, uh, why?

Speaker 3:

sell trial. Do we have any? Do we have any more?

Speaker 1:

updates just keeps getting better bro like you know what I'm saying, okay, so, truth be told, I don't remember the the uh lawyer's name, but apparently the lawyer got sentenced to 20 days in prison or jail or something, brian steel and what happened uh, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

I don't know what happened, but he got charged with contempt, so oh, that's the contempt thing y'all were talking about like, so he's basically like look.

Speaker 3:

So this judge is really sick of this whole shit you dig and um, I guess I saw something that said like he, uh, he asked the judge if like, what did he say? He said something about like. I want to say it was something along the lines of like when he's in jail, because I think he only has to go to jail on the weekends I think I I heard about that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that he could do it with Young Thug.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, exactly, yeah, I heard about that and he was like he asked the judge could I be in jail with Thug or something like that. And I think the judge said yeah, I think. And guess who reposted this though? Just take a guess, man, it's somebody you slick might not expect. I'm gonna. All right, I'm gonna give you this hint turn up, it's an r&b singer r&b singer mariah the sciences.

Speaker 1:

Nah, it's r&b. Love, love after. Nah, okay, okay, um, is this a? Is this a popular R&B artist?

Speaker 4:

I don't know about now.

Speaker 1:

Now, oh, you don't know about now. Oh, okay, ray J Nah, bobby Valentino, nah, damn, is he from Atlanta?

Speaker 3:

Mm-mm. He lives here though.

Speaker 1:

He lives here.

Speaker 3:

It's all good, I'm going to give it to you.

Speaker 1:

Okay, what do we got? Must be nice oh my god, mr Mr bro.

Speaker 3:

He was like, he was just so, he was just so caught on guard by that man. He was like, wow, like you know what I'm saying, he played his song, he played, he put, he posted that. Real.

Speaker 1:

I mean, hey, talk about ride or die bro.

Speaker 4:

You feel me that the judge or the lawyer?

Speaker 3:

Getting locked up For his client Out still man, you know.

Speaker 1:

Right, and then, and then the joint I just showed you A few minutes ago I don't even know what that was about, man, yeah. And then the joint. I just showed you a few minutes ago.

Speaker 3:

I don't even know what that was about, man. Yeah, it's. Look, man Boondocks.

Speaker 1:

It's okay, Y'all can come back bro Aaron McGruber, I don't even know if you're still the director of the Boondocks, but, bro, if you can get your hands back on the Boondocks, that would be great. Just for the YSL trial I'm trying to see.

Speaker 3:

They just don't crazy. But yeah, man, you know it. Uh, I feel like they gonna make a movie about this, like in the future, bro, like I feel like that's the only thing that makes sense yeah, you know at this point so yes but yeah, you know have you ever seen a trial like this?

Speaker 3:

not at all, not at all. You know, like, even even with like the yw melody, because you know I've seen trials with like hood folk. You know I'm saying how to take a stand, all that. But like this one is like different. We're like we, we got, we got folks that's working, the case getting in trouble and stuff Like this joint is crazy, bro, it's like you know.

Speaker 1:

Nuts.

Speaker 3:

But I don't know, man, maybe this is how the media wants it to be. You know, maybe this you think so? Entertainment. You know what I'm saying. Entertainment for the people. You know they get to talk about it on their TikTok or Instagram.

Speaker 1:

I tried to look into what happened with it but I like I started seeing folks talk about all the judges doing is is, is shouldn't being the man and conspiracy. This because I was like all right, y'all lost me like once I start hearing that, I'm like all right, get out my face. I don't even want to hear no more. Yeah, like I've lost interest, but um yeah white cell, beautiful man oh, white cell.

Speaker 3:

And truth be told, tanaka, I honestly don't even know why he's locked up look man, they trying to put some bodies on him and all that and say that he was like the head honcho and then correlate that also with like a whole lot of drug dealing and all that. So I don't know, we'll, we'll see, uh yeah, how this unfolds. I mean it really all of this really unfolded from the whole like lucci thug beef that you know that was going on and that that led to, like you know, folks getting popped in the street and all that.

Speaker 1:

So you know, got you um yeah, that's interesting.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so we got one more, then we're gonna move on to the question of the day. Um well, tanaka, finally our time has come. Well, not our, but me and drip's time has come. Shout out to atlantis skate interviews for, uh, finally dropping the um the interview. Yeah, shout out to them for finally dropping the interview. Yeah, shout out to them for finally dropping the interview.

Speaker 1:

Y'all haven't checked it out by now. It is on their Instagram page. I guess eventually it's supposed to be on YouTube. I don't know when they plan on dropping that, but shout out to, well, hold on, let me see if I can pull up their Instagram. Shout out to me being prepared. Let me see if I can pull up their Instagram. Shout out to me, shout out to me being prepared. Let's see If you want to watch it, which you should. Atlanta underscore skate underscore interviews Go check that out. It's their most latest interview. Check that out. Give me a little tidbit on how you feel about, well, how we feel about you know, skate World and all that good shit, and how we got into it and some other little I don't know. Some other little tidbits, me and Drip Shout out to Breezy into it and some other little, I don't know, a little tidbits me and drip shout out to breezy

Speaker 3:

if y'all watch the interview. Y'all know and some not. If you know you know.

Speaker 1:

If you know, you know, but anywho, oh, we do have one more thing before we get to the question of the day. I promise the last thing, but shout out to everybody buying the merch um, still doing the giveaway. If you have some merch, go ahead, take a picture of it with you on. Oh hello, easy for me to say if you have some merch, take a picture with it. You have anything on and send it to me. I'll put you on the dj turn up appreciation post and you will possibly win some free shit, some free merch DJ Turnup merch this week or this month. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

This month was Nunu, I believe. Yes, nunu, shout out to Nunu Shout out Nunu. She won DJ Turnup giveaway, but yeah, so question of the day we're gonna move on to the question of the day yeah, question of the day, man, Turn up.

Speaker 3:

How'd you feel the night went, man, Nice and slow three. We did our third one out, so you heard me. How'd you feel the night went? We just going to fill in the people about the behind the scenes. Well, to an extent you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

Little behind the scenes of. You know what went on that day, not it I was nervous about.

Speaker 1:

I was definitely nervous about the line, but the line went as smoothly as it could have gone, right, um, okay, so I guess this would be the first thing that I will say about the um behind the scenes, and I didn't get to say this during the meeting, but I meant to bring this up and this is to their defense, ravi and Moe and all their defense, I will say this, and mo and all their defense, I will say this had they been able to help us, or more people been able to help us, we probably wouldn't have been running so late when it came to getting dressed right. And I didn't think about that until then. I feel like they had said something and I was like, oh, yeah, I mean that could have, that could have went a little better, yeah, but true, be told, we weren't late. We were like it was like, well, yeah, yeah, I mean fuck. I mean yeah, we weren't late, we, we made it, we made it happen.

Speaker 1:

Um, uh, yeah, but I ain't gonna lie, bro, by that point, my adrenaline, my adrenaline was pumping like my joint was at like, my heartbeat was at like 119, 120, 125, like my adrenaline. I had to calm myself down. Um, I mean, eventually I did. It was just a lot going on. Um, well, not really a lot going on, because it really was nothing going on at the moment, but like it was just uh, um, um, just a lot to take in and a lot was about to happen because the folks were already parking line pimping outside right, and I saw that because I kept walking back and forth, I kept leaving shit in my car and every time I'd walk outside it'd be like five cars every time.

Speaker 1:

It'd be five cars each every time I come outside, and it was just, yeah, it was a lot going on nah, it definitely was as far as the night goes, I feel like it went as smoothly as it could, for sure, yeah, the only nitpick I have, I feel like the merch should have been in the front where everybody could see it. And yeah, and one other nitpick I probably would have was folks, I guess, had the roses on the floor and they were spilling it on the floor and we almost had to shut down the floor because of that floor and we almost had to shut down the floor because of that. But luckily we have Mo.

Speaker 1:

That's like this is nice and slow, kind of don't want to shut down the floor for some roses so just kind of nip that, scoot those to the side real quick, make sure the floor is straight and yeah, but everything went fine oh and not to mention the fucking string just stopped in the middle of the joint but I mean that was like I said, all these are like minor, like really minor things, like I wasn't worried about most of these things.

Speaker 1:

But I mean this, this, those things separate like a great night from a perfect night. What, and I mean I mean none of us are perfect, but you know it was a good night great night. Everybody had a good time. Uh, we were getting pictures at the end and all that shit, so you know everybody had a good time.

Speaker 3:

I feel like that's the only thing I'm kind of bummed about.

Speaker 1:

I feel like we didn't get enough, like in front of the banner title oh no, the fact that we didn't get any pictures in front of the banner. It was so much going on that night and my mind was just so, bro, I was scattered brain oh yeah, for sure, because everybody's like hey, turn up, it's not gonna get a picture.

Speaker 4:

Man, at the end of the night it's like dang this joint crazy yeah, it was a lot going on.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was too much going on, like like me thinking about anything about myself besides going to bed and taking a nap, or going to sleep like it wasn't happening for sure.

Speaker 3:

Nah, that joint was. It was a good night though. You know what I'm saying. I got to say that it was a good night. I feel like we executed pretty well, man, considering the circumstances. You know, you got a little crunch time at the end, but especially since I had to move my car apparently, or something like that, I don't know. I feel like I didn't really have to move like that, but they told me I had to move my car. I didn't even hear about that.

Speaker 1:

What was that about? I don't know. I guess somebody needed to move and get out didn't even hear about that.

Speaker 3:

What was that about, I don't know. I guess somebody needed to move and get out something like that and um, well, look, I just see it like this.

Speaker 1:

I'd rather them do.

Speaker 3:

I'd rather them tell them you gotta move my car rather than you hit my shit, yeah so it was just funny though, because, like I seen all them folk in the line they like isn't that the dj?

Speaker 4:

like and we like 10 minutes before opening tights on. So they over there looking at me crazy, like what is going on.

Speaker 1:

That's what I was scared of too, because, like it's just like an hour, like 30 minutes right 20 minutes and I'm like keep running in there. Oh shit, I forgot my fucking yeah, I forgot my shirt.

Speaker 2:

Oh shit, I forgot my hat. Oh shit, I forgot my jacket, like it was just a whole bunch of different shit.

Speaker 1:

I just kept forgetting. Oh shit, I forgot my phone, the camera, like it was. Just it was. It was a lot, but definitely for sure. Yeah, everything, everything else ran pretty smoothly. Um and um. To put the icing on the cake, uh, shout out to all the videographers, you know yeah, send me all this stuff and shout out to cake. Uh, shout out to all the videographers you know, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Send me all this stuff and shout out to the videographers and shots Just everybody pulling up Like right, Y'all really made nice and slow. Uh, I think Right.

Speaker 3:

Like a real big thing Face so yeah, um, yeah, that's not, it's a big deal, man. I appreciate all the love and everybody showing out for real. I mean, not a lot of people don't know this, but I don't watch stories on Instagram because I be feeling like I spend enough time on Instagram without even watching people's stories and stuff like that even watching people's stories and stuff like that. So I kind of had to stop, just cause um, just sending out all these videos and answering DMS and all that.

Speaker 3:

It just be it'd be taking taking too much of my time for real. But, um, but yeah, I. So I I wasn't so insane that I wasn't sure what the temperature was for nice and slow, because that was kind of how I used to gauge it, like before is I used to watch people's stories and see what they were talking about and all that. You know what I mean. So but it's shown up. Y'all folks showed out, man, myself, internal, greatly appreciate it, and so we're just gonna keep building out. So, man, appreciate love for real. Man, you know, um, which leads us to our july 2nd event. Turn up. The genius came up with this idea. I had no idea he had this up his sleeve and it's. It was a great idea, man. So turn up, go ahead, man, let the folk know we're going, man.

Speaker 1:

True, be told, I didn't even know that I had this idea. But for the people that didn't make it to Nice and Slow 3, this is your opportunity to come to Nice and Slow 3. So what we did? Well, what I did was we recorded the stream. Um, shout out to miss cloud. We were streaming on miss cloud. If you weren't able to make it, you could just be at home just chilling and vibing with the music and yeah. So we got the whole stream, video and audio, and we're gonna show the whole nice and slow three for a session on july 2nd. And, like I said, shout out to all the videographers. Some of the videographers sent me their videos and we put them on there, and some people some lucky people were part of the video, and some people are on there a lot and some people only won their once.

Speaker 1:

But you know, we're having an event where, for the people that are on there regardless, you're getting free right, so shout out to y'all for showing out.

Speaker 1:

I want to give a shout out look, I want to give a shout out to dirty dan. And I want to give a shout out look, I want to give a shout out to Dirty Dan. And I want to give a shout out to JJ. And I want to give a shout out to Drip, because, truth be told, it's not a lot of people that get suited and booted for Nice and Slow 3, but I appreciate the folks that actually take the time out to get suited and booted for Nice and Slow because like everybody, truth be told, wants to be freaky and nasty and all that other shit.

Speaker 1:

So you know, that's the easy. I feel like that's like the easy route, but the fact that they got you know, a little dapper Dan, I was like there we go, there we go, I love it, I love to see it definitely love to see it so yeah, and trying to think, let me think Definitely, love to see you. Yeah. Trying to think, let me think Was there anything else? Any other shout outs? I want to give for Nice and Slow.

Speaker 2:

Is there any shout outs you want to give to anybody?

Speaker 1:

for Nice and Slow 3?. Oh, before you give your shout out, I don't know his name but, like I said, this is probably probably my highlight of Nice and Slow 3. It was the scavenger hunt. When Buddy had won a rose bear, I was like he probably doesn't want to take this home.

Speaker 3:

I was like hey question Do you happen to have what is a rose bear? It was literally a bear that was made of roses. They had earrings on it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, gotcha gotcha, and we were like I was like, hey question, bro. I mean, look, I don't really know you like that, but I'm pretty sure you really don't want this. You probably don't want this, but did you want, do you have a girl that you admire, or that you? Or do you have a girlfriend, or like a girl that you fuck with, or did you admire or anything? He was like, yeah, there was this girl like she skates at Cascade and other stuff, and I was like, okay, where is she? And he was like, oh, it's that girl right there, um, and I'm like he's just pointing into the fucking crowd. He's there, um, and I'm like he's just pointing into the fucking crowd.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was about to say it's like.

Speaker 1:

He's literally like this I'm like okay, which one is it yeah? She has red, she has a red bow in her head, she has shorts and she has red. And then she like I'm like, bro, I don't know who you're talking about. She's like she's gonna come around. And then she finally came around and she's like her, her right there. So I was like oh, okay, so did you know the skater, the girl?

Speaker 1:

no I've never seen her in my life, and so I'm like, all right, so we found a rose. But, um, you're getting called out and this is funny, like I'm watching her, like, as I'm like looking at her, like, as I'm saying this, I'm like, all right, so we found a rose. So if you're wearing black shorts, a red top, have glasses on. And, as I'm saying this, she's like, like, as soon as I said glasses and I said red bow, she's like, she's like, she's like this is adorable, so she's like so she like comes to the dj booth and she's like it's just, it's just adorable.

Speaker 1:

So she's like so she like comes to the DJ booth and she's like, wait, what's going on? And so like she's like so we have this. We have this young man that has found a rose, what he has.

Speaker 3:

He wants to give you this prize yeah, so he's a winner from Scavenger Hunt. He got this prize and he wanted to. He wanted to give it to you.

Speaker 1:

So hopefully he got some draws that night, or at least a number or a hug or something. I don't know. I'm going to just Look, I don't know neither one. I didn't know neither one of them. So I'm going to just go off and say he got some draws. So yeah, shout out to that. That was cool, I was able to put somebody on For sure. But yeah, any shout outs you want to give Shout outs or any highlights you want to talk about.

Speaker 3:

Man really just shout out to all the skate crews that was in the building. Icy Queens Fatal Attraction Most Wanted the Dip Boys was also in the building. I think I knew there was a Dip Boys. Yeah, that's what Nightclub J shot Nightclub J, he a part of that crew and I think there was a good amount of Skate Mafia in there too. Skate, you know, skate Mafia was in there.

Speaker 3:

I think so. Yeah, I mean just shout out to everybody for real, like it ain't no real specifics. I know it got a little crazy in the middle, as it tends to um, you know what I'm saying? Uh, bunny bouquet of fatal attraction, you know she um she got.

Speaker 1:

She definitely got the sex appeal for sure. I was like okay got the highlight. I would say you know um we might have to, I'm not gonna lie. We might have to do something. We might have to do something for her yeah, my answer. We might have to do something for her because and this is, and this is just because I did something shout out to mimi, because she was the highlight from super bailout monday and I got her free entry for super bailout monday for the next Bell Out Monday.

Speaker 1:

for that I wouldn't want her hard work to go in vain, for sure. Bunny, if you're listening to this, we got something special for you. I don't know what it is, but we're going to figure it out. We're going to figure something out.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, I'm just appreciative that them folks popped out, you know right so, yeah, just me and Turner just working to cause everybody keeps saying it's gonna be a national skate party soon enough, and you know all that and we appreciate that and we just gonna keep working till we get there dig so facts that's. You know all that and, uh, we appreciate that and we're just gonna keep working until we get the dig so facts that's you know yeah, can't put no planer than that, right?

Speaker 1:

but, um, yeah, we're gonna keep it moving. Uh, guess the bars. So so, ladies and gentlemen, for the people that don't know what guess the bars is, we get some bars to each other, we read them out, these from for some hip-hop songs, and we rate it off the f scale, which is from five to one fire, ferocious, flat, frisbee, fecal. We judge it from that and see if we can figure them out, and if we can't, we'll tell them who it is. And you know, keep it moving. Already got two cars in the yards that don't run.

Speaker 1:

So why would I want to break shit down for you? Better me confused, better me confused with the punch lines and the bars that I launch here. The king of debauchery, come with a cracker dick to fuck you in that pussy carpet, you much. If that's not hardly, well, if I'm not hardly the, you must be barely the one billionth. Really, you kidding me, bitch? I'm the prodigal son. I'm stunting like my daddy Da-da-jur-da, drinking like my mama, ka-ka-country, like my uncle, stuttering like a seedy and a donk. Bump, bump, bump. Yeah, I ain't gonna lie, bro, this shit is all over the place. I'm giving this a frisbee fecal. Yeah, this is not it. I don't know if that was just because I was reading it, or maybe they misdid the lyrics, but yeah, no, this ain't it. This is not it. So, uh, no idea who this is. Go ahead and let me know how this was. Kendrick or not, like?

Speaker 3:

us. This is, uh, this is yellow wolf. Oh, beautiful dirty dance.

Speaker 1:

Favorite dj, I mean dj, dirty dance. Favorite rapper? Yeah, throw it up, man. Dj, I mean.

Speaker 3:

DJ Dirty, Dan's favorite rapper. Yeah, throw it up, man Dang. That's fucked up. I actually like that song. Yeah, so there it is, man.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's interesting. Yeah, that was actually one of my favorite songs from off that album.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, for sure, rip Gangsta Boo.

Speaker 1:

Dang, I don't live Gangsta Boo. Why don't live Gangsta Boo? Forgot about that.

Speaker 3:

We got you a while. I get the flexin' on him. No, inbox, I send a message to him. Ay, when I step up on him, gotta shoot him with me and he better do him like Ay. I put the weapon to him, he be. I step up on him, got a shooter with me and he better do him like hey. I put the weapon to him, he'd be running fast and he better zoom like hey. But you could never get away. They know I'm heavy on the straights. I'm probably moving with the trays getting boom. You, in the way I put the shooters in your face. Get the flex and I don't know inbox. Send a message to him. Ay, wanna step up on him. Gotta shoot him with me and he better do him like Ay. Um, yeah, I'll give this a flat, um, and, yeah, I give this a flat.

Speaker 1:

And I'm going to say this is ludicrous, so you are wrong.

Speaker 3:

That is actually 5-0 foreign.

Speaker 1:

That is off of Wetty Right. Are you familiar with Wetty?

Speaker 3:

I am familiar with Wetty. When was the first time you heard Wetty? The first time I heard Wetty would have to be I think. I was just looking through his discography for real and I saw that he had a new single out. So I want to check out the video Because I don't know, fabio, you know he was catching, catching a little heat, you know in New York and all that, and my partners was from New York, so just want to see what they was on, what he was. Cool, though Cool record no.

Speaker 1:

Tell me what is head for. I just want to bone her. Get it till the morning. Once you can control it, hold it, birkin, for the longest, down to feel lonely. Rest in peace to the chrome. What the fuck these niggas on Say I'm talking shit the wrong way. I still got me some sold out date shows, foreigns back to back. We like to race my heart. Been in a better place sticking out around to hold me down. I hope it's you. I believe I said that was a frisbee, yeah that boy talking about.

Speaker 3:

They're tossing them today. You know what I'm saying, but um, yeah, my, my, uh. I said it's one of Dave's favorite rappers.

Speaker 1:

Ah, that's what we got, and um.

Speaker 3:

I wanted to see if you would be able to get it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean well, opera. It's this late and I already Guessed, like two of them.

Speaker 3:

I don't remember so this is gonna die alone got you?

Speaker 1:

yeah, I probably would have never got that well, yeah. I did know that was one of her favorite rappers.

Speaker 3:

Um yeah, I would have never got that one though okay now picture little Bobby, just a youngin' runnin' round with his man's hammer in his hands, feelin' like the man. Run, motherfucker, run Before the po-po get the gun. Put it to your brain like Goddamn. Everybody know you ain't about it. Everything you talk about, I know I can live without it. I'm tryin' to wear this man's hair. I'm feeling like the man. I'm putting it to your brain like God damn Dang that's crazy.

Speaker 3:

I thought I knew what this was. For some reason it was reminding me Of Runaway Love, but I know that. Wasn't he talking to different girls during that song? Yeah, so this would have made sense Saying Bobby, but now that I'm reading it, I don't know who this is. I don't know who this is. I don't know who this is. I'm going to give it a flat ferocious though.

Speaker 1:

So that's Logic.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

This is off of a song called Everybody. Are you familiar with a song called Everybody by Logic? I don't believe so.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm not going to lie to you that that is one person I forgot. There was, like I think there was a college classmate of mine who was like real big on logic and was like bro, you gotta check out logic, he dope, and it just I don't feel like the disconnect was.

Speaker 3:

I don't know what it was like. He's dope. You know what I'm saying, don't get me wrong. But like every time I listen to his project, I guess I didn't really feel the need to go back to it. You know, he was like cool.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean he was cool, you know but there's no replay value in his music, is what you're saying?

Speaker 3:

I don't know what it was, cause he he's a lyricist, it's not like he was whack and he can like flow too. So like I don't know what it was, that just didn't quite grab me. I don't know. Maybe I don't know. I mean, maybe it was like he's like a you know vince staples, yeah, I don't know. Maybe it was like he just kind of is in in like one of those categories like they dope and like it. When I listen to their music. Yeah, it's cool, but I don't find myself like, oh, let me put that Logic on. You feel me and all that, but you know what? But see that you know what I'm blaming on this.

Speaker 1:

Just blame it. Let's talk about it.

Speaker 3:

See Turnipips good at making playlists. I need to make playlists because I feel like that's where I would gain a greater appreciation, or like, not even appreciation, but just if I had different go-to playlists.

Speaker 3:

You know, then I would like, you know, be tapped in because I feel like that could their type of music could go on a playlist and it'd be straight you know, but I'm so scatterbrained that I just be coming in the car like, and whatever mood I'm in, like whatever artists come to mind at that time, I'm just going to put them on. And. Logic is not really like pops up on my mind. It's like oh yeah, let me go. You feel me like so right?

Speaker 1:

you know, speaking of, I gotta put that uh pd crack inside high song on my playlist dang man shout out pd crack bro still having thoughts about that young guns concert man shout out to the young guns all right, but I be puerto rican day parade floating that bends marina de la ray coasting she in school to be real, to be real estate oh, to be a real estate agent last month I helped her with the car payment.

Speaker 3:

So much excitement.

Speaker 1:

I'm thrilled um, uh, it's cool. Flat, let me get flat. It was cool, uh, I don't know. I feel like this guy is like yelling at the top of his young, at the top of his lungs, I don't know, for some reason I want to say big pun just because he said he's Puerto Rican. Wait, is big pun Puerto Rican yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, for some reason I want to say pit bull or big pun, I don't know why, but I mean obviously not like Fireball Pitbull, but like Dammit man. Pitbull, dammit man, yeah, but yeah, who we got.

Speaker 3:

So this is a song called Famous and it's by Kanye West. Ah, so way off.

Speaker 1:

Got you Famous. Oh, I made that bitch famous, that one. So I've like vaguely like remember that song. I want to say that was the song where it was either a video or cover art, where, like he was in the bed with all these celebrities and they were all naked and I feel like he got a lot of flack for that.

Speaker 3:

I want to say that was famous. I can't remember the single. You talking about the single artwork.

Speaker 1:

Either that or he had a video or something.

Speaker 3:

They were all naked. Oh yeah, I think it was. I think it was a video.

Speaker 1:

But I don't think I've ever really all the way listened to the song. I just remember the controversy that was off of Life of Pablo yeah, it's an interesting time for this is Panda, panda era dang, I need to play that song.

Speaker 3:

I ain't gonna lie, that joint used to get me turnt, bro. Interesting, did you like part two? I?

Speaker 1:

A rich blood, by the way, having swag. Rolly old like a tape fish scale. Yeah, I got these on the bait. Don't want to talk, man? I said I need some spay. Don't want to talk, man. I said I need some space. Um, I don't know how to feel about this one. Not going to lie to you. Um, it's going to get a flat frisbee. I mean, it is straight to the point, but like Roll the O, like a tape, I guess. I guess roll the O like a tape, tape player, tape player, shouty fish scale. Got these bitches on the bait. Rigid rich blood, by the way. Um, yeah, it's great, bro, as far as a rich blood. Um, yeah, I don't know what this is, bro. I was gonna try and guess. Yeah, I don't know who this is, bro, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I was going to try and guess. Let's just make this interesting, let's just give it a try.

Speaker 3:

Who was I going to say yeah? Who were you going to say it was either going to?

Speaker 1:

be Lil Wayne or Chris Brown. I see Chris Brown singing that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But no, you were wrong. That was actually Young Thug. That was off of Hookah.

Speaker 3:

Have you ever heard of Hookah? Ah, yes, I've never heard the song.

Speaker 1:

Pass me the hook when was the first time you heard Hookah Tanaka.

Speaker 3:

This is reminiscent of them lounge days. You know what I'm saying, the rise of the lounges. Yeah, basically, you know what I'm saying. Shout out to Meshia One.

Speaker 3:

Tanaka was in the streets you know what I'm saying Turned up off the hookah type shit. You feel me? Now I'm playing. Nah, this was around the time I was in Atlanta and it was really my introduction Slick to Atlanta. So I was working at a club and them club folk used to want to go out and I just recall going to like a hookah lounge and hearing the song playing. I just recall going to like a hookah lounge and hearing the song playing and but I mean that was also like you know, I feel like at like college function they would play, you know, kick back tight joint, you know, and all that.

Speaker 1:

That is definitely when mustard ran the world. Yeah, yeah, so you know. But yeah, it was cool work. It's cool, all right, how many of them boys is with you? Speaker 1:

Speaker 3:

I don't think I've ever heard that, and then turn up, cut it off before he can get to banks.

Speaker 1:

Well, no, it's because, well, this was when the game was like parting ways with g unit, so I was like fuck g, like I was really like fuck G unit like yeah, I don't know if you remember that part but, but he was on the song though was he yeah oh, I think that may have been the time. That may have been like his last song with. G unit.

Speaker 3:

I ain't perfect and I ain't trying to fix the shit that ain't working. But it's 2020. I ain't finna argue about twerking. Since you wanna test them wires, might as well, jump in with both feet. So you know what the girls say period, that's how you should.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so you're right, it was Megan Thee Stallion that was off of B-I-T-C-H. So yeah, b-i-t-c-h. When was the first time you heard B-I-T-C-H?

Speaker 3:

I feel like I heard it On the radio, but then I also feel like I heard you play it and I was like this man Turno just miraculously finds all these songs that be on the radio. And I don't even listen to the radio.

Speaker 3:

He doesn't listen to the radio, though I need to start listening to the radio. Nah, at this point, turno, you don't even need to, because you're already gonna find out what song is gonna be On the radio, but I feel like It'd make my life A lot easier If. I ever Like started Nah, turn up you just. You just naturally Got the gift, bro, I guess Whatever.

Speaker 1:

Wait, this rep, our city, rep, our city, is that ad libs?

Speaker 1:

Y'all niggas just glanced at it Now got y'all staring at it. But it's been the same old North Carolina. It's been been. Y'all niggas just getting it. Oh, but it's been the same old north carolina. Uh, it's been been. Y'all niggas just getting it. Oh, it's a shame, isn't it? So, um, okay, so what gave it away? Was the north carolina, obviously, um, my second, um, that's really what? Put the nail in the coffin for sure, but what?

Speaker 1:

gave it away was, uh, my house, my home, my cud, my brother, my sister, my cuz. That's when I was like hmm, I've heard this before.

Speaker 1:

And then we used to I'm like what, what? And then rep our city, rep our city. I'm like, okay, this sounds familiar, but yeah, uh, petey Pablo, raise up. Um, uh, flat, um, I was very not well, not like when I when I first heard Petey Pablo. I was very not Well, not Like when I. When I first heard Petey Pablo, I was just like, oh, okay, this is, this is cool, I guess, um, this is tolerable, I can, I can deal with this. Um, it was kind of Neither here nor there. For me, raise Up was kind, of Truth be told, I was in California when this song Was like Hot Um, but yeah, it was just, it was just kind of just there.

Speaker 3:

For me, how old did you think pd paulo was when you first heard him?

Speaker 1:

well, truth be told, I was a child, so I just thought everybody was like 20 something I don't know.

Speaker 3:

He just kind of reminded me, just like an older like I just assume everybody was 20 and 30 yeah, so unless they, like, had gray hair or something. Then they were like 60 but yeah, you know why I had to put that one in ah, got you.

Speaker 1:

He said this motherfucker's a frisbee I'm trying to tell you so that's what I gotta do to get get the real out of you. Just, we gotta do this at late night. Got you all right, noted, but all right. Speaker 1:

So what we got next? Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3:

Uh yep Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1:

Alright so last time on hall of fame, uh tanaka had Duse and I had Soulja Boy's Gun Story, and the winner is Soulja Boy's Gun Story. So, tanaka, since I won this time, the floor is yours.

Speaker 3:

Let me see what are we going to do. Let's nominate seafood man Seafood okay.

Speaker 1:

Why are we nominating seafood?

Speaker 3:

For those that don't know, tanaka was not sure if he could eat seafood because both my parents, like they, was allergic to it. So growing up I never had it for real and so because of that, I never knew if I was allergic. And I have recently discovered this world of seafood and, um, it has been quite the journey, I have to say. Um, I've been, uh, pleasantly intrigued by these different types of seafood, the seafood boil, the terminology of cluster um, yeah, I had no idea what that meant. You know. They said knock how many clusters you want. I said what are you talking about? And uh, they're like oh, so now you like dead ass. Like I said, bro, I don't know nothing. I know nothing about, about that, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

How long ago was this? If you could say, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3:

I would say this is maybe a month or two ago, gotcha you know. So I finally discovered I could eat it and you know it's been cool. You know learning about it and eating all these different. You know crab legs and shrimp and trying to see food boils and, um, fighting these cravings Cause I'm like damn, that's really fine. So but I've also learned seafood is not exactly the most you know affordable thing, so definitely got to save your coins to enjoy that. But, yeah, shout out to Seafood. You know Shellfish and all that good stuff. Look forward to continuing this journey that it Okay, that's a valid reason.

Speaker 1:

So I'm gonna give a big shout out to Kenny, aka Mr 104, and Adonis, aka Mr A Smooth. We're going to do this nomination together. So, with that being said, my nominee for the TNT Podcast Hall of Fame is Key Glock's Glaucoma Beautiful. If there was ever a mixtape that didn't have any skips is Glaucoma, and that was the mixtape. I discovered Key Glock. I want to say Kenny told me about Key Glock, and this was around the time Glaucoma. Key Glock. I want to say Kenny told me about Key Glock, and this was around the time Glockoma had came out, and I want to say since 6. Well, no, russian Cream was the single that he was pushing. I think Russian Cream was on the mixtape prior, though, but since 6 was definitely the mixtape joint. That was like the intro and that man was going crazy on that mixtape.

Speaker 1:

I feel like you could take any of those songs and like yeah a mixtape with no skips, so if you're looking for?

Speaker 1:

uh, if you're looking for some hard memphis trap music with no skips, I highly recommend you go listen to key glock with no skips. I highly recommend you go listen to Key Glock, and Kenny would recommend it, smooth would recommend it and, truth be told, that was the mixtape that put Smooth on a Smooth on to Key Glock. So if you ever want to listen to Key Glock, I would highly recommend you start with Glock Homer or Glock Bond, but definitely Glock Homer because Glock Homer is fucking legendary. Recommend you start with glaucoma or glaucoma bond, but definitely glaucoma because glaucoma is fucking like legendary legendary like super legendary you used to play uh since six at the function sin I have.

Speaker 1:

I've never actually gotten to play since six at a party strip club all the time. Right, yeah, definitely, but um by the way, tanaka, you know you can raise that up, right, okay just fasten it got you cool

Speaker 1:

yeah, so yeah, that's my nominee, so we're gonna do. We're gonna do. We're gonna do Seafood versus Glaucoma. We're gonna put it on Instagram. Let y'all vote and yeah. We'll take it from there what we got next. Turn up song of the day. Turn up song of the day is next Alright, so turn up song of the day.

Speaker 3:

Is that next turn?

Speaker 1:

up. Song of day is next. All right, so turn up song of the day. So this one's gonna be a little interesting because, uh, this song actually started out. Because this song actually started out, I'm not going to lie.

Speaker 2:

Had you asked me when this song came out that I would actually like this song, let alone let this be one of my favorite songs, but turn up song of the day Jabbar Days Tanaka.

Speaker 1:

Are you familiar with this song? Well, first off, are you familiar with an artist named Jabbar days Tanaka? Are you familiar with the song? Well, first off, are you familiar with an artist named Jabbar?

Speaker 3:

Jabbar, that's the Soulja Boyz artist. Yes, sod money game. Um damn, that's crazy, that's. That's a throwback for real. I don't think I've actually heard any music from Jabbar. I've heard of him, though, you know, just as a SOD Money Gang affiliate, right.

Speaker 1:

You've never heard any of his music.

Speaker 3:

I don't believe so. I don't believe so.

Speaker 1:

So this is probably his biggest song. It's a song called Days. So at the time I was starting my junior year in high school and this was around the time where and they probably still have it on channels, but this is back when I used to just listen to Music Choice and I would probably just be playing in the video game or just I don't know I'd be doing something cleaning my room or something and random songs would just come on.

Speaker 1:

And that was one of them. Room or something and random songs would just come on, and that was one of them. And and of course, of course, I was always biased because truthfully, honestly and truthfully, anything I felt that came on sod money gang.

Speaker 1:

I just felt like it's just complete garbage, like I'm not finna, but true, be told, if you know dj, turn up, or if you Devin, you know he likes stupid shit. So he was going to give it a shot anyway, because he just likes to listen to chaos, so like if there's anything more chaotic than a SOD money game artist, please let me know. But I gave it a shot and at first I was like kind of like all right, bro, this shit kind of sound kind of cool. But then I was like alright, bro, this shit kinda sound kinda cool. But then I was like you know what? This chorus is actually pretty catchy and the beat, when the beat comes on, it actually catches your attention as soon as the song comes on. And not to mention, like I said, said the chorus is catchy as hell, like as soon as. Like if you hear it a couple times, you'll catch yourself.

Speaker 3:

I got a, I got a side question, so Okay, when did you discover bass? Like Bass, like In music yeah, like they joined Noggin. Like you feel me Uh, I feel like, as long as I've been, music yeah like that joint knocking, like you feel me. Uh, I feel like as long as I've been, so just off the rip, like you was hearing it through, some like mean speaker, like Not mean speakers, but I mean I know about bass.

Speaker 3:

Okay, nah, I just I discovered bass late so, like a lot of songs, I didn't realize. You know I'm saying the impact, cuz they'd be like playing in the car and that joint, like go crazy, and I didn't know about. Anyway, my bad back to you okay, all right I thought that. You know. I thought that's what you were saying when you said the beat caught your attention?

Speaker 1:

The beat caught my attention because it's just like it's one of those things, that's like it's more of the melody rather than the bass Got you. The song was according to Rap Genius, the song was released August 23rd 2009. And it was released under SOGMG and Universal. The song is about him explaining himself to his girl of why he has to be on the road and why he has to leave. The producer of the beat is Super Sad Tanaka, are you familiar?

Speaker 3:

with the name super set.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, not outside but I definitely heard that producer. It is, as it was, track number seven off his next tape, voicemail. He was actually supposed to come out with an album but I mean, truth be told, anything on SOD, which was Jabari's mixtape. He does have a video for this song. The video is just him really walking around as he's like singing and as he's singing like stuff is just popping up around him, like he's on some like great screen type shit, as he as he Phrases. It's a lots of color and a lot of animation.

Speaker 1:

Besides some people from SOD and Soulja Boy, obviously, because Soulja Boy is like a feature on his own, killer Mike makes a cameo Very random cameo. Killer Mike. Gotta support the youth, yeah. And Soulja Boy is supposed to be the director of this video. It shows him in the director's seat at the end. According to Jabbar's 97.9 Jams interview, he wrote the song on a promo tour for I Saw the Boy Tell Him, which, for the people that don't know, I Saw the Boy Tell Him was Soulja Boy's second album. He was sitting in the back of the tour bus while everyone was asleep, thinking about what he could tell his girl while he was sleeping. As soon as he got off the tour, he recorded it and, uh, christmas 2008, he presented the song to soldier boy, and soldier boy loved it.

Speaker 1:

Um, yeah, man, um, truth be told like I said I really didn't take this song serious because sod, but truth, honestly and truthfully, if there's, if this song has any high points, it's the beat and the chorus For sure. I would highly recommend. If you're looking for a song that's going to get stuck in your head, I would highly recommend you listen to Jabari Days. And that is what song is it?

Speaker 3:

This song is called Days. You said Days.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm going to let you hear it.

Speaker 3:

That joint kind of like. So it it's on something like First Day Out or First Day of School.

Speaker 1:

First Day of.

Speaker 3:

School. You remember that song by Soulja Boy, by Soulja.

Speaker 1:

Boy. No, I don't remember that song. I'll just let you hear it. You'll be. The truth be told, honestly, I feel like what made me like this song even more was the remix it made. What made me like this song even more was the remix. It made me appreciate the song, because there's a remix with ross kardashian some other people. Oh, as a matter of fact, you know it's crazy. I think your boy's on it, chameleon I'm gonna say chameleon, really.

Speaker 1:

No, it's like ross kardash and some other people. I want to say chameleon is one of the people that's on the remix that's just somebody I wouldn't expect that would collab, you know On that. Well, it was a pretty big. Well, it wasn't pretty big, it was a moderately big song at the time.

Speaker 3:

I'll say that, oh, for real yeah.

Speaker 1:

It got him interviews on radio.

Speaker 3:

It was like first name, last name, j Money, maybe, maybe, oh damn. Maybe a couple of knock-ins back Because this song came out like 08, 09, right, it came out in 2009. 2009,. Okay, that's the time frame. I kind of figured yeah. I feel that We'll go with, in my opinion, saha's best mixtape.

Speaker 1:

Here we go.

Speaker 3:

Black History Project. Oh beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Black History Project, one of the mixtapes I skipped over because his ass didn't want to give us an album.

Speaker 3:

Turner, when did you give up on Saha?

Speaker 1:

I gave up on Saha after Jack of All Trades 2, I want to say he had a second one, or maybe it was just Jack of All Tr 2. I want to say he had a second one, or maybe it was just, maybe it was just Jack of all trades Okay, where he's just freestyling over regular beats.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, after that I was like Alright, you play with us Well, no, okay.

Speaker 1:

So I'll say this Because I want to say Ivy League came out after that, right.

Speaker 3:

Um, yeah, I believe so. Yeah, to say, ivy League came out after that, right? Yeah, I believe so.

Speaker 1:

So Ivy League was supposed to be around the time where he dropped his album Right? So I'll say Ivy League is when I gave up on him, because I didn't listen to Ivy League until the podcast.

Speaker 3:

Got you.

Speaker 1:

I was like nope, I'm out Until he comes out with an album. I'm not listening to no more of his shit. Like nope, I'm out until he comes out with an album, I'm not listening to no more his shit, and then Boop on Sunday came out and I was like I mean this is cool, but I'm not gonna lie, this wasn't worth the wait so did you ever check out Black History Park? I didn't hear anything after Ivy.

Speaker 3:

League. Oh damn, man missing out, missing out, turning up but this is.

Speaker 1:

But this is what I'm saying, though. Why couldn't he have made this album? But go ahead. I'm sorry, my bad.

Speaker 3:

Go ahead. I feel you. No, I'm not going to lie, I feel you. I feel you it was. It was yeah, I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge Psy High fan. So came out and, like brah, I was so geeked up, I was in class and I was discovering this and I'm just like could not focus in class because I was so excited.

Speaker 3:

But, um, but now, black history project it was. It was kind of a conceptual project. Um, basically, what the concept was is that his nephew apparently had came up to him and asked him to help him out with a project, and so it inspired him to come up with a mixtape that kind of honored just black heroes and um, hence why you know some of these folks, you know, like huey and mandela, um barry white, you know bosquiat, like those are titles of records on the on the project. You know, in my eyes, I feel like this was the perfect kind of prelude to an album. Unfortunately, this mixtape came out in 2014. We didn't get the album until like 2017. So I was kind of bummed about that, because it was like dang, like if he had dropped the album after this tape, like I feel like he would have been a lot bigger.

Speaker 3:

But because that didn't happen, it kind of stalled the momentum, um, but from a music musicality standpoint, I feel like this project was the best out of all his mixtapes. Um, I don't know, there was just a uh, there was a a good kind of like match of like soul and production in the, in the beats, like um, I don't know. I just feel like some of the other projects he's had like the beats were like, they was cool. You know what I'm saying. But as as as flowing, as like a whole project, I don't think that it all necessarily worked.

Speaker 3:

You know, like he had good concepts and don't trust me like good cuts that I feel like you could throw on a playlist and you could. You know vibes who would be cool, but when listening to a whole mixtape or project, I feel like sometimes it didn't quite always fit together. But I feel like this one was the best, most cohesive mixtape that he had. And I don't know it's just dope hip hop, you feel me. I feel like this is Psy, high, high, you know, uh, because that's always been the biggest knock on side. You know he could freestyle his ass off, but you know, as far as making enjoyable music that you could listen to and stuff you know. Big steve was, uh, one of those that you know.

Speaker 1:

I feel like he couldn't make any good music you know, I'm saying like which is odd. I feel like he's really underrated.

Speaker 3:

With that, I feel like he actually can make good music right, because that's why and that's why big c was always such a big crit fan over side, because he felt like crit made better music than side high better songs. Yeah, that was, that was, that was his opinion on that. So, um, but I mean this tape. You know huey, uh, you know he does the classic. You know, um, what is that? Who's the? Who's the best? Me, me, g, what do you say? Me, three stack. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Something.

Speaker 1:

Jay-Z and Nine. Yeah, yeah, who was the three?

Speaker 3:

Him and who else. I think he said Tip Three Stacks or me or something like that. So just real Atlanta. You know, what.

Speaker 3:

I mean, yeah, sounds alright. And then Mandelaela. It's crazy because, when I thought about it, mandela is really um, how do I put this? If og bobby johnson is like the street version, like mandela is like the activist, yeah, like the activist version of OG Bobby Johnson. That's interesting, cause it kind of like, I don't know, for some reason, between those two songs I feel like they got similarities. I don't know, I would have to go back and listen to them and line them up for real, but but yeah, he was, he was definitely, you know, flowing on that joint. Napoleon is just really a freestyle in which he's, you know, just going off with, you know, double and triple entendres, going crazy. Basquiat actually samples that house song that we Soho, yeah, I forgot how I found out about that song.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know what's crazy, tanaka, and you probably don't even remember this, yeah dude, there was a song I played for soulful sunday and it was a side high song do you remember what song it was that I played, but I feel like you were singing it word for word. You were a hell of geek that I played damn um you were definitely skating, you were skating it was rise, wasn't it? No, I feel like it was something because it was random and rise is like kind of slower it's like 80 something, it's like 89.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I feel like it was something I played. I feel like it was a sci-fi song, but I feel like it was. I feel like it was basqu played. I feel like it was a sci-fi song, but I feel like it was. I feel like it was basquiat, was it you did?

Speaker 1:

play basquiat oh, if you did, I would have been, you know, I would have been hyped for sure I don't know, I don't remember, I just remember I played, I feel like it was, that it probably wasn't, but nah, see, nah, now you're going to make me investigate because, right, yeah, it might have been actually that.

Speaker 3:

I mean, that would make sense, because I've thought about playing that joint at the rink, you know, just because I feel like that's something skaters could skate to as well, you know. But but yeah, basquiat just basically speaks on, he rather, you know, he doing it for the people, doing it for the art and not so much about the fame and, you know, money. But there's really, I really don't feel like there's any misses on this project, cause there's a lot of soulful records too, and and which you know, um, you know, I just think that it was well put together in terms of having a mix of records that are uptempo and you know, ones that he just flexes with the bars, but then also, you know, inspiring and, um, talking about you know, different societal stuff. You know, like Barry White is a flip on Barry White, so like, obviously you know the singer, barry White, but also talking about cocaine and just uh, how, how it's kind of, you know, damaged communities and stuff like that, and talking about that whole whole situation.

Speaker 3:

Um, and then, you know, is it me, you know, is where he just uh be questioning a lot of things. You know how all these rappers tend to sound the same, and what are we really talking about, you know? And I think there's a record, good Night and let me see there's some other records I'm not missing out here. Yeah, this is a record. Good night caretta side, that young is really kind of like his most personal track. I feel like that kind of tells this whole story. And then, uh, the project ends off with Black Pride and I feel like it was a fitting end. You know so. But yeah, man, this is one of my favorite PsyHot projects for sure, and I would probably put this number two, I think, out of all the projects I've heard from Psy.

Speaker 1:

So including the album. Including the album out of all the projects I've heard from Psy, so including the album.

Speaker 3:

Including the album? Yeah, including the album.

Speaker 1:

So what's that number one is oh, probably the album.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, probably the album. You know, I know Turn Up always talks about Royal Flush 2, and I got to about Royal Flesh 2. And I gotta revisit Royal Flesh 2 cause I feel like I remember a lot of the first half and then the second half.

Speaker 1:

I need to refresh my truth be told, honestly, I really feel like I really don't remember Royal Flesh 2 that well. Like I said, I remember there were songs. So, like you said, like I've never heard, black history month, so right, I I don't know how it flows, or anything like that but I do remember, off royal flush 2, there was new girls emotional, uh, bulletproof um was the record, with big sean on there too. What was the name of it?

Speaker 3:

Dang it. They had an old video for it too, and everything Bulletproof. Yeah, I can't remember it off the top.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't know, but I do remember songs.

Speaker 3:

I don't remember how it actually flowed With you know Amongst each other, but, nah, I'm not gonna lie, them Royal Flushes was good, like I like Royal Flush One and two, you know. So, um, they would probably be Probably be next in line as far as Top projects From them, right, but yeah, that's my album of the day. Make sure you go check it out, man. So I'm one of the dopest hip-hop artists that I feel doesn't get the recognition. But, you know, to the people that are critics, I can give them some weight, you know, because he has made the people wait and, um, we are once again waiting for the second album, which was promised, I believe, like three or four years ago, and here we are still waiting. But you know, his last album was 2017 and it is now 2024. But apparently he is finishing up the mixing of the album and somebody commented and said it doesn't take six years to mix, it's so hard. You want a hell of a mix.

Speaker 4:

But yeah man.

Speaker 1:

Cool Well, but yeah, man cool well we're gonna get into dj talk and it's probably gonna be brief. But um, tonight I got a question for you. Uh, how much promotion should a d DJ be doing for an event?

Speaker 3:

I mean that is a good question. It would be the rotating thing, this one, I would think so. Oh, my fault.

Speaker 1:

I mean, truth be told, I've never seen a mic lean like that, but I mean you probably can do. I've never seen a mic lean like that, but I mean you probably can do that. Oh see, there you go, let's leave it there.

Speaker 3:

Um how much promotion should a DJ do? For the event. Are they putting the event on or are they just one of the participants in the event?

Speaker 1:

I'm assuming they're just as Like.

Speaker 3:

is this like Nice and Slow 3?

Speaker 1:

I'm assuming they're a part of it. Just as much as you know what Tanaka, fuck it. Give me all the perspectives.

Speaker 3:

Okay. So if it's a joint like Nice and Slow, like how me and Turnip came up with the event and we're in collaboration with a ring, I feel like we need to do a lot of promotion. But if this is something that just like we were selected to do and it wasn't really our idea to come up with it, I feel if it's like, uh, if it's like you know, like for the love of skating, or like skate-a-thon, and they selected us to be a part of that, I feel like the promotion doesn't have to be as heavy. You know, just because that's not our event technically, you know, we just selected for it, but it but um, yeah, that's my viewpoint on it.

Speaker 1:

You know, right, I mean truth be told you kind of kind of hit it on the head. I yeah me personally I feel like like we just we're just playing the music, right, and we might tell our like close ones, hey, this is where I'm gonna be at tonight and that's when I might promote it and that's why.

Speaker 3:

That's why I had to explain, you know, to the owner that we work with at stone mountain skates, because it's like, um, you know, he had stressed to us that he didn't like seeing us so stressed out and running around, you know, and all that. But I had to explain to him. I was like, look like that's what me and turno signed up for. Like, this is our event, you know, and we understand that it's gonna get stressful. We have a lot of responsibilities on our plate that we had to take care of. And this is different, you know, from skate-a-thon and stuff like that, because this is not a situation where we just come in and play the music. You know, we have a lot of other things that we're responsible for.

Speaker 3:

Uh, being that we put this together, you know, with skate athon, them, djs, you know, they just get the time that they have to dj the night rink, all that come in, do their job and they gone. You know what I mean. But, being that we put it together, you know, we we have to run around and make sure this is okay and this and that you know. But I feel like myself, internal, we both came in with the mentality that it's what we signed up for. We ready to do the job. You know it come. It come with the territory you dig. So word.

Speaker 1:

Well, like I said, that was a brief. Um, shoot, that's really. We really tied it up in a nice little bow. Uh, yeah, so, yeah, that's about it. Uh, so, with the scheduling, as as I say every time, if you want to see my schedule, my schedule is on my instagram. You can follow me on. Oh, it's on my instagram and my twitter, actually, so you can follow me on instagram. Dj turn up. Turn up is spelled t-u-u-r-n-u-u-p, which is to use on both of the use anytime you see you put two of them.

Speaker 1:

And for twitter, it's the same thing, just without a dj. And so, yeah, follow, follow me. It's pinned to the top and my schedule, oh hello, my schedule is on there.

Speaker 3:

Events are subject to change, I think. Let me see what is my schedule. The 23rd and the 30th I will be doing Sova. Sunday, 8 to 12 at Stone Mountain Skates. 23rd I'll be also at Cascade from 3 to 7 pm family session. And the 29th, I believe, 1130 to 3 am at Cascade, late night Saturday session. I'll be there. I'll be at Sparkles Gwinnett. I'll be at Sparkles Gwinnett. I want to say One of those days I can't remember. Let me see. Yeah, I can't recall which day. Well, actually, the 16th, my fault. Adult session Sunday the 16th, 7 to 11. Adult session Sunday, the 16th, 7 to 11. So make sure y'all check me out, I should be at the Glide one of these days. I want to say, yeah, I'm not sure I got to move my schedule around a little bit. Yeah, I'm not sure I got to move my schedule around a little bit, but that is because myself, turnip Drip, dj Dirty Dan and the delinquents of the delinquents, I should say We'll be going to North Carolina the weekend of the 22nd.

Speaker 1:

I would shout out the college, but I keep forgetting the name of the college. Do you know the name?

Speaker 3:

of the college Is iton maybe, okay, I don't know, but yeah. So yeah, the delinquents are heading out on the road, you know, to go turn up into another state and um, it should be a fun little road trip. Interested to see how it unfolds.

Speaker 1:

Very much so.

Speaker 3:

But it should be a good time. It's always fun to travel, and I'm sure we'll be able to have some stories with us after that takes place.

Speaker 1:

Right, very much so. Yeah, that's about it, you guys. Yeah, that's about it, you guys. Uh, for so, tnt podcast, dj turn up, dj tanaka, we will see y'all on the flip side, thank you. Outro Music.
